Dear members and friends of G4AR,

Across the UK, questions of democracy, accountability, and leadership are once again at the forefront — and Greens for a Republic have been active every step of the way.

Royal news

Meanwhile, Charles has been heckled at several public appearances, a sign that the public mood is shifting and that unquestioned deference is no longer the norm.

Inspirational Ireland

Across the Irish Sea, the election of Catherine Connolly, the new ceremonial President of Ireland serves as a timely reminder that democratic heads of state are not only possible — they work. The Irish model continues to inspire those of us who believe in a modern, accountable republic rooted in equality and transparency.

Greens For A Republic activities

This month, our members attended Republic's Annual General Meeting. A highlight was our discussion with guest speaker Zoe Garbett, who shared thoughtful perspectives on democracy, local empowerment, and the Green vision for a fairer, more inclusive constitutional future.

We’re also delighted to announce that several of our members have joined the Democracy, Government and Constitution Working Group. Together, we’re drafting a new motion to advance republican principles within Green policy — ensuring our commitment to democratic renewal is embedded across the movement.
