We loved the Green AGM 2025! A report by Greens For A Republic
Greens for a Republic: Post-Conference Report.
10/10/20252 min read
This year marked a milestone for Greens for a Republic — our very first stall at the Green Party Conference! We were thrilled by the enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations that took place over the weekend.
Engagement and Interest
Our stall attracted a constant stream of visitors, many eager to learn more about our vision for a fairer, more democratic UK. We invited attendees to answer the question “What will our republic mean to you?” using post-it notes — and key themes emerged loud and clear:
Democracy
Equality
Social justice
Financial fairness
Modernisation
These themes perfectly reflect why our campaign matters — and why so many Greens are ready to talk about a new, democratic constitutional future.
Building Connections and Momentum
We had the pleasure of chatting with many inspiring figures, including Zack Polanski, Carla Denyer, Chris Packham, Natalie Bennett, Caroline Lucas, and Phil Davies from the Welsh Greens. We also met with groups whose work aligns with ours — such as Greens for Animal Protection and Green Humanists— and look forward to building stronger collaborations in the months ahead.
We also discussed future campaigns, including efforts to scrap the Sovereign Grant and advocate for greater financial transparency and accountability within the monarchy.
Growing the Movement
The conference helped our network grow significantly:
Many new supporters joined our WhatsApp group
Dozens followed us on Instagram and visited our website
A strong number signed up to the Democracy, Government and Constitution Working Group, ready to push forward motions on monarchy and constitutional reform
Looking Ahead
Our first conference presence was a great success — energising, encouraging, and full of ideas for the future. We’re already looking forward to next year, building on these connections and continuing the conversation about what a Green, fair, and democratic republic can look like.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared your thoughts, and helped make this such a positive and productive start for Greens for a Republic. The journey continues!
